Job Summary/Basic Function
The Digital Media Manager will positively represent Teachers College Record (TCR) through social content, events, and cross-collaboration. The Digital Media Manager will spearhead the planning, promotion, and execution of book talks and other relevant events. They/She/He will coordinate with Columbia University departments and organizations in collaborating for social media campaigns and event promotion. The Digital Media Manager will execute social media content across various platforms, including Twitter, Instagram, and the newsletter. Digital Media Manager will assist the Senior Director in supporting website content and submissions. They will edit and share video content through various platforms and represent the journal at national conferences. The Digital Media Manager is also responsible for training graduate assistants in support of the journal.
Characteristic Duties And Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with Teachers College Records goals and objectives
- Establish and maintain relationships with Teachers College stakeholders, departments, publishers, and other educational institutions to build collaboration and maximize presence.
- Coordinate with campus organizations, departments, and relevant educational organizations to maximize event exposure and attendance.
- Attend and present TC Record at relevant conferences (e.g., AERA, AdobeMax).
- Create and manage content for various communication channels, including print and digital brochures, organization website, social media platforms, and newsletters, among others.
- Write and edit engaging and timely content to ensure consistency across platforms.
- Plan and promote events such as TC Record Book Talks, webinars, and presentations
- Edit and share new video content (i.e., The Voice) through social media platforms (e.g., Twitter, Instagram).
- Monitor and analyze audience engagement trends across digital platforms.
- Contribute to Annual Report for the Board of Editors meeting.
- Supervise Graduate Assistants to support TC Record digital assets and events.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Experience with online publications and/or publishing systems
- Experience producing multimedia content and knowledge of multimodal interaction
- Proven ability to analyze current and emerging customer use patterns
- Experience with marketing techniques and strategies
- Experience working with technical systems and staff who develop and support them
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in education or related field
- Experience with publishing and submission systems (e.g., ScholarOne)
- Experience producing content for social media and newsletter copy
- Experience utilizing scheduling software such as Hootsuite
- Proven experience in design and editing (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
- Proven ability to analyze subscriber and follower interaction and engagement
- Experience working with technical and accessibility departments to ensure successful virtual and in-person events
