This is a hybrid remote work position in Calgary Alberta or Toronto, Ontario only and requires in-person, in-office collaboration a minimum of 3 days per week. This provides flexibility the remaining 40% of the work week. This hybrid work plan allows for critically important learning, collaboration and networking with our colleagues. Specific days in the office are agreed upon by the team.
Overview of role
As WestJet becomes more complex and dynamic, we are seeking a Digital Marketing/Channel Strategist reporting into our Paid Media Marketing and Commercial team. The incumbent must be highly motivated and demonstrate the ability to work in an agile environment. Playing a key role within our Paid Media Marketing team, you’ll bring your performance orientated approach, competitive drive, and analytical thinking to support our revenue targets. Our Paid Media Marketing team is responsible for delivering on the strategic marketing plan for all paid media activities. The team is responsible for helping establish and forecast revenue targets, as well as provide ongoing reporting for all paid media.

The Digital Marketing/Channel Strategist will be responsible for providing support with the day-to-day execution of our marketing programs. This will primarily focus on the coordination with key stakeholders to deliver necessary assets for all channels and working closely with both internal and external partners to launch campaigns and troubleshoot when necessary.
Key deliverables include
- Support the execution of paid digital marketing campaigns focused on paid social campaigns as well as display/programmatic and some traditional marketing channels to support digital campaigns, focusing on qualified traffic.
- Support Channel Leads with managing all creative and trafficking requests.
- Work closely with creative teams to build best-in-class assets and with ongoing development of toolkit of assets leveraging best practices and key learnings from previous campaigns.
- Support Channel Leads with ongoing test & learn plans.
- Support Channel Leads with budget and target management.
- Ongoing review of performance to assist in identifying optimization opportunities.
- Work closely with media agency and cross-functional teams (WestJet.com, Data & Analytics, Regional/Brand/Product Marketing etc.) to help deliver on marketing objectives.
- Proactively participate in the improvement and troubleshooting of media related processes.
Experience and qualifications
- Recognized Bachelor's degree and or diploma in Marketing, Communications Digital Media or related program.
- 3-5 years experience in a related discipline (Marketing, Communications, Digital or eCommerce), preferably within a retail/digital role with experience working with agencies in launching campaigns with digital advertising channels such display, programmatic, video, paid search and paid social.
- Working knowledge of digital platforms such as DV360, Facebook Ads Manager, Google Analytics.
- Demonstrated interest in and passion for understanding of the media landscape with a focus on digital media and creative.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving, goal orientated, and relationship building skills.
- Excellent project management and communication skills, both oral and written.
- High energy team player.
- Great attention to detail.
- Working knowledge with return on marketing investment and marketing analytics, web analytics and KPIs.
- Digital commerce in the travel industry or other e-commerce industries would be considered an asset.
