Overview

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the nation’s largest small business advocacy organization, looks to hire a Media Manager to join its communications team.

Responsibilities

The purpose of this position is to help increase NFIB’s visibility, name recognition, and influence through earned media, which includes:

Managing NFIB’s relationships with reporters
Identifying leads and opportunities for new media relationships
Drafting written content for internal and external consumption
Collaborating with various NFIB stakeholders to ensure the Media Department is providing support key to accomplishing organizational goals

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, political science or related field
Three (3) - Five (5) years of experience in a journalism, communications, public relations, or political/campaign work environment
Excellent verbal and written communications skills, with experience in writing, editing, and copy-editing
Ability to write press releases, op-eds and talking points on deadline
Experience handling multiple assignments simultaneously are essential
Familiarity with booking radio and television interviews
General knowledge of national politics and the legislative process
Must be able to help communicate complicated policy positions and concepts, such as tax reform, healthcare reform, labor issues, energy policy, and other public policy issues that affect small business
Proficient in Microsoft Office, media monitoring programs, organizational skills, and attention to detail

Salary Range

$85,000-$95,000
