Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and visionary leader to join our team as the VP, Head of Paid Social. This role will be responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive vision and mission for our paid social practice, ensuring innovation, efficiency, and excellence across all accounts. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing social media teams, client accounts, and industry partnerships, with a strong focus on strategic growth and thought leadership.
This position will report into the SVP, Biddable Media who oversees auction-based buying channels (Programmatic, Paid Search, and Paid Social).
Canvas Worldwide Social Practice
- Create and execute a vision and mission for the paid social practice that will define the strategic direction and goals for Canvas paid social media.
- Lead social media innovation at Canvas, staying ahead of social media trends and technologies to innovate and improve Canvas paid social strategies.
- Develop and ensure the implementation of standardized processes and best practices that ensure efficiency and effectiveness in social media operations.
- Oversee client-facing paid social teams and drive their career development, including platform training & certifications
- Participate as social subject matter expert during business development engagements
Clients & Accounts
- Oversight and support of all account-specific social teams (handling six individual client accounts) ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
- Primary social subject matter expert for important client engagements, presentations, and providing key insights and recommendations.
- Thoughtful of the application of paid social to all client business objectives to drive measurable results.
- Identify and leverage strategic short & long-term growth opportunities within client accounts.
- Oversee budget and performance projections across teams, inclusive of annual financial planning for paid social media activities across various teams.
- Develop strong collaboration with Canvas client-facing strategy & planning teams
Social Industry & Tech Partners
- Build and maintain strong relationships with social media partners and vendors.
- Evaluate and integrate new products and technologies from social media partners to enhance Canvas paid social offerings.
- Primary lead for all agency and multi-account partner negotiations ensuring favorable terms and collaborations.
- Monitor and analyze trends and developments in social media and digital marketing that impact our business.
- Develop and share current POVs and insights on emerging social tools and technologies.
- Serve as a representative of the company at important industry events, fostering relationships and promoting our brand.
Canvas Worldwide Internal Social Teams
- Manager of 3 separate paid social media teams managing 6 client accounts.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, training and professional development opportunities to a team of 20 social media experts.
- Manage the development and proper delivery of training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of the paid social team, including platform certifications
- Design, implement, and optimize processes to streamline operations and maximize team performance.
- Foster a collaborative environment with leaders of other marketing channels.
- Ensure seamless communication and coordination with other departments (i.e., Strategy, Digital Investment, Analytics, and Ops) to achieve integrated marketing efforts.
- Regularly inform the executive team of trends and developments in the social media landscape that may affect our business.
- Act as the point of contact for business development opportunities requiring paid social media expertise.
Qualifications
- 10+ years Paid Social experience within an agency or brand-side
- Expertise across the primary social media platforms - Meta, TikTok, Snap, X, Pinterest, etc.
- Strong knowledge of relevant ad tech platforms - 3rd party tracking (e.g., Search Ad 360, Campaign Manager 360), social ads managers (e.g., Mediaocean (4C), Sprinklr), and creative ad tech (e.g., Clinch, Mediaocean (Flashtalking))
- Strong understanding of analytics and measurement opportunities across the funnel, including various attribution models
- Possessing strong leadership experience, especially of larger teams (15+ individuals)
- Possessing strong presentation skills and the ability to lead meetings/projects
- Understanding of role and interplay across media channels such as Display, Video, Social and Search
$180,000 - $200,000 a year
Salary and Benefits
Actual base salary is determined upon factors such as experience, qualifications, training, certifications, and internal equity. The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. Base salary is part of a total rewards package that includes highly competitive benefits like generous medical, dental, vision, pet insurance, commuter benefits, disability and life insurance coverage, 401(k) matching, up to 14 holidays per year, a “Do Good Day,” and unlimited PTO.
In-Office Work Schedule
This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum of 2 days in-office per week.
