What we are looking for
The Strategy Director is a highly experienced member of the team responsible for:
- Leading a Portfolio (multi-disciplinary team focused on a core set of clients) in line with TMP’s business/client goals from a strategy perspective
- The subsequent oversight of quality delivery for projects delivered for the Portfolio’s clients
- ‘Growing the Portfolio’ - the development of clients and individuals within the Portfolio
- Building senior client-side relationships around Strategic thinking
What you will do
Craft world-class, effective work (60%)
- Act as a trusted consultant to clients and colleagues, collaborating internally and externally with senior clients and agency partners to provide strategic guidance and direction for marketing that solves business challenges.
- Shape client projects/needs
- Make sure the work we deliver to clients consistently exceeds their expectations.
- Set the direction for client engagements by framing complex challenges, crafting effective strategies, analyzing data, finding what’s most useful, and delivering tailored recommendations to meet their marketing objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with our most senior client stakeholders, such as senior marketing leaders, sales leads, and product/proposition experts.
- Onboard new clients and collaborate across disciplines with TMP teams to bring new accounts into an understanding of the TMP processes and practices.
- Oversee broad program discovery, definition, and development based on a strong background in planning integrated campaigns across a variety of marketing channels.
- Lead senior and/or ‘critical for client success’ workshops with our clients’ senior marketing and sales teams, to inform the strategy and review/refine program performance
- Key Strategy resource for prospective client’s RFPs
Get the best out of the Portfolio, Strategy Team, and wider TMP (25%)
- Lead Strategy’s role in the Portfolio, treating it as if it was its own Business Unit and managing the needs/concerns of individuals within the Portfolio
- Act as an authority to ‘bounce-off’ for members of the Portfolio, offering suggestions and potential approaches and solutions to challenges by drawing upon your experience and inventiveness.
- Lead and collaborate with other members of the TMP and Client team to elicit best-in-class strategy, program development, creative, execution and data/analytics to drive client’s success
Develop our Strategy team’s proposition and reputation (15%)
- Strengthen Strategy’s proposition by evaluating tools/methodologies (eg insight tools), and looking at how we monetize propositions and services
- Create thought leadership around our strategy work and deliverables.
- Invest time to develop new commercial propositions that can drive new conversations with (new) senior client stakeholders
- Mentor and collaborate with TMP team members, sharing best practices and ideas to support their growth and consistently deliver exceptional work that exceeds client expectations.
Requirements
Skills & Experience
- You’re naturally curious, and you find B2B marketing fascinating
- You have extensive strategy experience across the B2B marketing spectrum, including ABM, Demand Generation, Brand, Channel Partner Marketing, Communications Planning, and Analytics. You will be a go-to expert in at least one of these areas.
- You’re just as happy being the sole Strategist on a project as you are collaborating with other Strategists
- You show up with confidence and composure in front of CEOs and interns
- You’re keen to learn TMP processes and B2B marketing best practices to allow you to shape the next steps, suggest resources, defend and clarify approaches and convincingly speak to clients across marketing sales, presales and other broader business contacts.
- You’re proactive in identifying and acting on opportunities to develop our strategy proposition, through new tools, ways of working and solutions.
- You’re the kind of person our most senior marketing and business contacts can chew the fat with when discussing the latest trends and B2B marketing best practices, TMP’s approach and ethos.
- You can think fast. At a moment’s notice, you can sketch out our position in key areas (including all our different areas of delivery) and offer enthusiasm or healthy skepticism where it is due.
- You’re a problem solver and ‘fixer’. You should be able to think in systemic terms, not just ad hoc problem-solving. You can spot process faults, cross-departmental challenges and skill gaps in the business when they become apparent, and you’re happy to help fix them.
- You have 10 years of experience directing teams and leading marketing strategy.
- You get complex B2B Sales and Marketing, the ICT and Professional Services industries.
- You can run a workshop that delights a range of people across Marketing, Sales and Product, so they walk out of the room looking forward to what happens next.
