About The Role
The Associate Director – Programmatic will play an integral leadership role on the Performance.Monks Programmatic & Media team. The P&M team helps to develop media plans spanning DSPs, media vendors, individual publishers, and dozens of other types of programmatic ad buying. Within this team programmatic leads facilitate buying across various mediums (CTV, audio, display, native, video & more). The Associate Director is responsible for serving as the client-facing lead on programmatic media buys on a portfolio of accounts. The Associate Director will determine which partners and tactics to utilize, as well as allocate budgets across those tactics. They will also manage and support a team of 1 - programmatic specialists with their own assigned accounts on programmatic strategy, account sponsorship, and skills growth.
Success in this role will require a variety of experience in the Programmatic & Media space spanning various client types, DSP experience, performance measurement, and ad type understanding. You have a strong skill set in data analysis and quantitative analysis and don’t mind spending some time in Microsoft Excel. You have an uncanny ability to prioritize workflow according to the team’s and the company's growing needs. You have opinions and hot takes on industry changes, programmatic practice, and the digital ad ecosystem. Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and resourceful with no reservations about tackling a tough problem.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of 1 - 3 programmatic specialists in roles ranging from Account Manager to Senior Manager
- Lead and grow programmatic relationships with some of the team’s highest priority client base both as an individual contributor and account sponsor in support of direct reports
- Build strategic media plans spanning multiple ad types across programmatic, direct publisher, and other specialized types of ad buying including audio, CTV, ABM, and more
- Develop digital awareness & acquisition strategies for internal cross sells and net new prospective clients
- Serve as the client-facing programmatic and media lead on top revenue driving account teams (usually comprised of an account lead, paid search lead & paid social lead)
- Guide the set-up & launch of programmatic and direct media campaigns working across a variety of DSPs, publishers, and vendors
- Coordinate with ad ops on ad trafficking in CM360, as well as guiding strategy in floodlight and tracking set up for net new advertisers
- Monitor media in-flight campaign pacing, budgets, optimizations and results, both in-flight and post buy
- Troubleshooting trafficking issues related to creative, publisher implementation & escalating to 3rd party vendors
- Create reports and provide data-driven recommendations that support optimizing campaigns towards client’s desired KPIs
- Measure impact and effectiveness of campaigns using quantitative and qualitative metrics to share with account lead and client side contact
- Provide subject matter expertise on executing programmatic media campaigns across different programmatic platforms
About You
The essentials:
- 5+ years of experience in programmatic display, native, video, CTV, and audio with a solid background in B2B marketing strategies
- Experience working with at least two of the following: DV360, The Trade Desk, Amazon DSP, Xandr, StackAdapt
- Experience presenting programmatic and/or direct media performance and strategy in a client-facing scenario
- Very high attention to detail and ability to synthesize large amounts of data into actionable information
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Not a Must, But a Plus
- Hands on experience in Google Tag Manager & DoubleClick Campaign Manager
- Experience with Direct media placements and publisher management
- A general understanding of Search and Social digital media tactics
- Understanding of analytic platforms such as Google Analytics

Monks has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what Monks may pay for the position at the time of posting. Monks may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on job-related factors, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
