Role Overview
We’re looking for a Head of Media Planning to join our SkyBet Media Planning & Strategy team at Flutter UK & Ireland.
You will be leading the team responsible for developing our Sportsbook and Free to Play brands’ media strategy and campaigns, ranging from sports-led events like Cheltenham, Start of Season & World Cup 2026, to always-on brand campaigns and activity. You will also coordinate delivery of our Super 6 and ITV7 media activity, as well as lead our always-on media deals and partnerships.
Reporting into the Director of Media Planning & Strategy, the Head of Media Planning will be responsible for driving the media strategy within our advertising campaigns, being responsible for the relationship with our media agency and briefing process, development, output and optimisation. You will bring a wealth of media knowledge to the role, driving innovation and new thinking to the media space to deliver on our marketing objectives in new and exciting ways.
Key Accountabilities And Responsibilities
- Lead the team that handles the planning, delivery, optimisation and reporting of media activity and campaigns for the Sky Bet and Play (Free to play) brands.
- Own the Sky Bet and Free to Play media budgets - responsible for all activity covering: TV, Video on Demand, YouTube, Radio/Digital Audio, Print, Outdoor and Partnerships.
- Bring in a tried understanding of media measurement, important metrics and performance of channels to bring updates on efficiencies and impact of spend back to the business.
- Lead the media strategy for all Sportsbook campaigns and events TTL, including Paid Social and Digital media channels and delivering these back to the Marketing Director of SkyBet and all relevant Marketing Teams as part of a wider campaign process.
- Work closely with members of the Bet tribe – including Commercial, Marketing, BI, Research, Creative, Content & Social, among others – to ensure media activity and spend delivers towards wider business and marketing objectives.
- Lead negotiation of long-term media deals with key media partners and broadcasters, working with other UKI brands in the Flutter portfolio to gain efficiencies and value both at individual brand and also Group level.
- Manage a team of high performing offline and online Media Planning specialists, instilling a positive, proactive and collaborative team culture.
Skills, Capabilities & Experience Required
- Experience in a similar media-based role at Head of or Senior level – delivering multi-media strategies both ATL and BTL and extensive knowledge how they work together to provide the most effective media mix in order to achieve the best possible cut through and return on investment.
- Extensive experience in leading multi-million pound budgets across multiple channels, demonstrating performance success and how it chips in to the overall business goals and revenue targets.
- Ability to lead on multiple projects or workstreams at once, being responsible for the output of various campaigns at different stages.
- Confident in influencing across all levels – senior leadership, peer level and more junior members of the team - to ensure agreement on strategic direction and work towards a common goal (with clear measures of success defined).
- Lead by example with effective communication; understand and regularly communicate how day-to-day actions positively impact the bigger picture.
- Strong People Manager with experience in advising and leading a high performing team.
