As a Group Strategy Director, Connections, you are a conceptual and strategic thinker, responsible for identifying and creating creative opportunities across a brand’s end-to-end presence and experience that extend beyond advertising alone. With your peers across Strategy, Business and Creative, you are part of a well-oiled team, a leader and you act accordingly.
The Group Strategy Director, Connections is tasked with developing the discipline and talent across your team. You are a trusted and respected leader at the agency, and oversee creative output across multiple brands. You are responsible for growing our people, client relationships and the agency reputation.
What You’ll Do:
- Builds strong relationships across the agency and effectively sets the tone for moving work forward
- Actively develops the team and resources across the strategy department
- Challenges what the agency’s output is and actively takes it in new directions
- Oversees the entire Connections strategy and annual planning for all of your brands. Build and coach your team to develop plans that are idea led, but with a deep understanding of audiences. Map and design each project to live in optimal spaces across a brand’s ecosystem
- Guide, inspire and shape creative; leads strong briefs
- Partners with senior clients and has the influence to take our platforms into new spaces across their channels
- Owns our strongest relationships across the IAT, especially with our media agency partners
- Defines and builds audience segmentations, shared mindsets and translates them into buying audiences within media contexts. Comfortable with GWI and translating data into audience personas
- Represents the work, values and culture of TBWA out in the world through awards, juries and thought leadership
- Is passionate about business results and drives towards disruption at every opportunity; recommends strategies for growth on your brands and outlines the path to get there
- Mentors and manages, knows how to get the best out of people
- You’re responsible for the success of your brands and your people
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in strategy, media or connections planning
- Develops your team by directing with a keen sense of where Connections Planning can have the greatest impact and value
- Track record of exceptional connections strategy outputs, ranging from audiences to brand ecosystems, go to market plans and Connections Frameworks, but with an understanding of how to shape the narrative and build consensus in the thinking
- Senior client-facing agency experience on large, complex businesses is a must. Proven track record of harnessing influence to sell-in and defend work, pushing creative work to be its very best.
- Has a rolodex of relationships with media partners, publishers and platforms and keeps the team informed of platform updates
- Excellent people and presentation skills. Owns a room when presenting and mentors teammates on how they can contribute in meetings
- Knowledge of marketing channels and media mixes. Prior experience in media planning a plus

Location:
Given the nature of our Strategy team and the client assigned to this role, we are only considering candidates that currently live in or wish to relocate to New York City, in the near future (first 30 days of employment).
The annual salary range for this role is $190,000-$215,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic location and experience. Other compensation includes relocation costs, if applicable.
