Job Description
Penske Media Real Estate is looking for a construction professional that has a minimum of three years' experience in estimating and purchasing. This role with be based out of the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area for developing and constructing a private island called Torch Cay located in Exuma, Bahamas. This role will be estimating construction projects and helping to establish budgets and also purchasing materials for the development and construction for the operations of the island.
Job Responsibilities
- Minimal travel to the Bahamas will be required to work with the onsite team as well as meeting with contractors and suppliers.
- Prepares work to be estimated by gathering proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
- Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Prepares and presents estimates by assembling and displaying numerical and descriptive information.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
- Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
- Develop profitable purchasing strategies.
- Prepare and implement effective negotiation tactics.
- Manage relationships with key suppliers to maintain quality of goods, timely delivery and compliance with terms of contracts.
- Interviews and evaluates vendors and suppliers to learn about products, services and pricing.
- Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers to obtain the best deals on behalf of the company.
- Interacting with suppliers to schedule delivery times and resolve shipping errors.
- Works with team to ensure products are a head of needs.
Estimator Qualifications And Skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and take initiative on projects.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, Procore, and Bluebeam.
- Understanding construction documents with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple subcontractors and vendors effectively.
- Valid Passport and Driver's License and Automobile required.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum three years' experience as an estimator and purchasing agent
Compensation and Benefits
Typical wage range: $75k - $85k. Factors that could be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, years of experience and comparison to current employees already in this role. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
